at first glance, artist barbara segal’s chanel bags and leather jackets appear to be those very “it” objects we covet for our closet. but these are actually perfectly replicated versions, carved from other lux and unexpected materials like orange calcite and utah marble. at 100 pounds, their purpose is purely aesthetic rather than practical, pointing out the exclusive and superfluously beautiful nature of status symbols like an hermès. which only makes these masterpieces more covetable.
